Wag N Bone — Client Terms & Conditions

These Terms and Conditions govern the dog walking services provided by Wag N Bone (“we”, “us”, “our”) to the client (“you”, “your”). By booking our services, you agree to comply with and be bound by the following terms.

1. Bookings, Payments, and Billing

  • Consultation: Prior to starting regular services, a complimentary "Meet and Greet" consultation is required to assess compatibility and review your dog’s specific needs.

  • Payment Terms: Invoices are issued [weekly / monthly in advance / on a per-walk basis] and must be settled within [e.g., 7 days] of issue via [Bank Transfer / Direct Debit / Card].

  • Cancellations: We operate a strict 24-hour cancellation policy. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice, or instances where our walker cannot access your property/dog, are payable in full.

2. Legal Compliance and Identification

Under UK law, the owner is responsible for ensuring the following legal conditions are met before Wag N Bone assumes temporary custody of the dog:

  • Microchipping: Dogs must be microchipped with up-to-date keeper details registered on an approved database, in accordance with the Microchipping of Dogs Regulations.

  • Collar & Identification: Under the Control of Dogs Order 1992, your dog must wear a secure, well-fitting collar or harness bearing an identification tag inscribed with the owner’s name and address (including postcode). A mobile phone number is strongly recommended.

  • Dangerous Dogs Act 1991: You must declare if your dog is subject to the Dangerous Dogs Act or the Index of Exempted Dogs. Any exempted dog (including registered XL Bullies) must strictly follow all statutory requirements, including lead and muzzle mandates in public spaces, and must be approved by us prior to booking.

3. Health, Vaccinations, and Veterinary Care

  • Health & Preventatives: You certify that your dog is in good health, free from transmissible diseases or parasites (fleas, ticks, worms), and up-to-date with core vaccinations (or has a certified titre test).

  • Bitches in Season: We cannot accommodate unspayed females in season on group walks. Please notify us as soon as your dog comes into heat so that alternative arrangements (e.g., solo lead walks) can be discussed.

  • Veterinary Authorisation: In the event of an injury, illness, or emergency while under our care, Wag N Bone will make immediate attempts to contact you and your designated emergency contact. If neither can be reached, you authorise Wag N Bone to transport your dog to your nominated veterinary practice (or the nearest available vet) and authorize necessary treatment.

  • Veterinary Costs: All veterinary fees incurred for your dog’s medical attention are solely your responsibility, except where direct negligence by Wag N Bone has been proven.

4. Behaviour, Safety, and Off-Lead Walking

  • Behaviour Disclosure: You must fully disclose any known behavioral traits, including aggression, reactivity, excessive pulling, flight risks, or fear triggers toward other animals, humans, or vehicles.

  • Right of Refusal: Wag N Bone reserves the right to refuse service or terminate this agreement immediately if a dog demonstrates uncontrollable, unsafe, or aggressive behaviour that threatens the handler, other animals, or the public.

  • Off-Lead Consent: Dogs will only be exercised on lead unless you have signed a separate Off-Lead Consent Form. Even with consent, Wag N Bone reserves the absolute discretion to keep a dog on a lead if local council Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPOs) mandate it, livestock/wildlife are nearby, or environmental conditions pose a risk.

5. Home Access and Key Holding

  • Property Access: Where keys or access codes are provided, Wag N Bone will keep keys securely labelled without identifying addresses or client names.

  • Security & Alarms: You are responsible for ensuring clear access to your dog upon arrival and providing accurate instructions for alarm systems. Wag N Bone is not liable for false alarms triggered by incorrect client instructions.

  • Property Care: We will wipe down muddy paws and secure your home upon departure, but we are not liable for accidental indoor dirt, mud, or natural pet mess in your home following exercise.

6. Insurance and Liability

  • Business Insurance: Wag N Bone maintains professional Pet Business Insurance, including Public Liability, Care, Custody & Control, and Key Holding cover.

  • Client Liability: Under the Animals Act 1971, dog owners remain legally responsible for actions and injuries caused by their animal. You agree to indemnify Wag N Bone against any claims, loss, or third-party damage caused by your dog while in our care, barring demonstrable negligence on our part.

  • Equipment: Wag N Bone is not liable for damage caused to personal walking gear (harnesses, coats, collars) through normal wear, tear, or chewing.

Wag N Bone Cancellation Policy

At Wag N Bone, we understand that plans can change. Because our daily routes and group walks are carefully scheduled to ensure every dog gets the attention they deserve, we ask that you give us adequate notice for any changes.

  • 24-Hour Notice: Cancellations made at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled walk window will receive a full refund or a credit applied to your next booking.

  • Late Cancellations (Under 24 Hours): Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice will be charged at the full rate of the scheduled service, as we are rarely able to fill an open walking slot on short notice.

  • Unreachable Pick-Ups / Lockouts: If our walker arrives at your home and is unable to access your dog (e.g., key lock issues, incorrect alarm codes, or your dog is not at home), the visit will be billed in full.

  • Severe Weather & Emergencies: We operate in most weather conditions, but in cases of dangerous weather (extreme heat, severe storms, or unsafe icy conditions) or medical emergencies, walks may be altered, shortened, or rescheduled without penalty for your pet's safety.

  • Cancellations by Wag N Bone: If we ever need to cancel a walk due to illness or an emergency on our end, you will be notified immediately and fully refunded or credited.
